The Department

Alfred Health is equipped with one of the world's most advanced hyperbaric facilities and provides Victoria’s statewide service in hyperbaric medicine. The Hyperbaric Service is a part of the Department of Intensive Care and Hyperbaric Medicine and provides care to a wide range of patients including non-emergency and emergency patients. The Hyperbaric service has a three room multiplace chamber, and two monoplace chambers. The Hyperbaric service operates during weekdays and provides an on call emergency service after hours.

The Role

We have an opportunity for a senior hyperbaric and critical care registered nurses with current acute nursing experience to join the dynamic Hyperbaric Unit. As a Clinical Nurse Educator, your practice will be essential to providing education and excellence within hyperbaric team. You understand the values of patient-centred care and are experienced in building respect and trust with your patients, their care and your colleagues. You will be required to obtain and maintain ‘Dive Medical’ as per AS/NZ4774.2 (2019) standard.

Skills 

To be successful in the role, you must possess the following:

  • Currently registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • Postgraduate Qualification in Critical Care (or equivalent)
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (or equivalent), or working towards
  • Completed or working toward Masters of Nursing (Education) or equivalent 
  • Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check
  • Gain and maintain Medical Dive Fitness outlined in AS NZ4774.2: 2019 Hyperbaric Facility Standard
  • Open, flexible, innovative and demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritise multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Commitment to research process and application to practice           
  • Current Clinical Nurse Specialist with minimum 4 years ICU and/or Hyperbaric experience
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Demonstrate high level reflective and critical analysis skills
