The Department
AMAH provides specialist psychiatric clinical care to people with severe mental illness. The Program has a primary responsibility for residents of inner South-eastern metropolitan Melbourne but cares for all patients seeking its services.
The Alfred Mental and Addiction Health Program (AMAH) comprises:
- AMAH Hospital and Emergency Services (HES)
- AMAH Adult and Older Adult Services (AOAS)
- AMAH Infant, Child & Youth Services including Headspace (HI-CYMHS)
- AMAH State-wide Services
The Role
The position is a part- time, fixed term Clinical Psychology position based on the inpatient units of AMAH’s Hospital and Emergency Services (HES). The Clinical Psychologist will provide discipline specific assessment & interventions including behaviour support to consumers of Acute Psychiatry.
A good understanding of the assessment and best practice treatment of psychosis and personality disorders, as well behaviour support is required for this position. A recovery-oriented approach to working with consumers and carers is essential.
Active participation in Alfred Psychology Department & St Kilda Road Clinic activities such as professional development sessions & case presentations is expected.
Qualifications/Experience Required
- Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009.
- Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009
- Master or doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.

- Membership of the APS and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
