The Department

Alfred Health’s Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. The joint Dietetics and Nutrition Department is comprised of 46 EFT and approximately 63 people. It is organised into seven clinical streams and provides a 7-day service. Using evidence-based, patient-centred care, it provides clinical expertise to Alfred Health’s patients during their healthcare journey, including the prevention and treatment of malnutrition and the optimisation of nutritional wellbeing and recovery through tailored specialised nutrition therapy. 

The Dietetics and Nutrition Department has a long and valued relationship with The Alfred, with the first dietitian being employed in 1930. It has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. The Department has strong relationships with Monash and Latrobe University Nutrition Departments and is integral to the clinical teaching and training of student dietitians. 

The Position Summary

Alfred Health’s Dietetic & Nutrition Department is seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable and skilled Grade 2 Dietitian to join their busy clinical department. Key areas for cover include both acute and sub-acute clinical services, with opportunities to work across Alfred Health’s inpatient campuses (The Alfred Hospital, Caulfield Hospital and Sandringham Hospital). The Grade 2 Dietitian will work collaboratively with members of the Dietetics and Nutrition Department and the multidisciplinary team, including medical, nursing, other Allied Health and food service staff, to advance patient centred-care and optimise nutritional wellbeing and recovery. You will be provided with clinical supervision and opportunities to engage in relevant quality work and professional development.

 Skills and Experience Required

  • You will be able to demonstrate and uphold the beliefs of Alfred Health, be passionate about the care of your patients and possess excellent clinical skills. 
  • At least 3 years post-graduate experience as a Dietitian
  • Be eligible for membership of DA and APD credentialing
