On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About us
headspace offers a ‘one stop shop’ for young people aged 12 -25 and their families who may be experiencing mental health challenges. Providing an opportunity for young people to receive help early and promote a 'no wrong door' approach to supporting young people and their families through the provision of GPs, counsellors, Alcohol & other Drug workers and Vocational and Educational support.
Alfred Health is the lead agency for this program and offers the opportunity to work in a growing dynamic healthcare environment.
What you’ll be doing
The Graduate Social Worker is responsible for working with the Clinical Lead and Senior Clinician to ensure that day-to-day clinical work is carried out to effectively meet the needs of young people by providing delivery of clinical services.
The incumbent will contribute to the development of evidence-based and innovative clinical services and will promote the delivery of mental health services that are of the highest quality.
The Graduate Social Worker will be responsible for delivering therapeutic interventions to young people and their families. This may include brief intervention or single session interventions or medium to long-term therapeutic engagement. This role will also include assessment and clinical formulation and liaison with significant others in the young person’s life, which may include family, friends and other service providers. Referral on to other services may also be required if the needs of the young person are better met by another service.
Training, experience and / or expertise in family & individual single session work will be highly regarded. The Graduate Social Worker will work collaboratively with all clinicians located at the headspace Centre and will report to the Practice Lead - Core Team. This position will also form and maintain working relationships with key agencies in the community to establish integrated care pathways for young people.

- Bachelor and/or Masters of Social Work or equivalent and eligibility for membership of AASW
- Appropriate work visa
- Current Victorian Driver's License
- Current Working with Children Check and be willing to undergo a Background Check
