About the Department

Renal Medicine is part of the Alfred Health Specialty Medicine program. It covers multiple areas across the acute and subacute setting including inpatient (general and consult ward service), outpatient care (public and MBS clinics), consultative shared care, maintenance dialysis in both satellite campuses (Caulfield and Sandringham campuses), and home settings, supportive care and kidney transplantation.

The service is also the hub for spoke dialysis services across the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region. Teaching, clinical research and quality improvement are core to the service and to providing patient focused care, with opportunities to enhance the research program.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Management of inpatient renal consults under the supervision of renal advanced trainees and renal consultants
  • Attendance of general renal clinics
  • Participation in the renal registrar on-call roster
  • Support for satellite haemodialysis units - Caulfield and Sandringham
  • Attendance of unit meetings
