Applications are invited for the position of Specialist in Respiratory Medicine (Lung Transplantation). This is a joint appointment with Alfred Health and Monash University (Associate Professor/Senior Research Fellow (Respiratory), Level C/D or a hospital appointment with negotiated appropriate academic title) and is a Full-Time position. 
The Department of Respiratory Medicine at The Alfred provides a comprehensive suite of specialist consultative services throughout the breadth of respiratory medicine and allergic diseases with four constituent clinical services.  The clinical operational structure comprises of:

  • Lung Transplantation Service
  • Cystic Fibrosis Service
  • General Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Service (including interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension)
  • Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology Service

The unit is supported by Pulmonary Physiology (a comprehensive Lung Function Laboratory, a Sleep Laboratory and a Bronchoscopy service.
A number of joint cross portfolio Services underpin the clinical operations of Respiratory Medicine. The academic and teaching activities are under the auspices of Monash University’s Respiratory Medicine@ Alfred and School of Translational Medicine. 
The Specialist in Respiratory Medicine is required to provide clinical expertise and service in Respiratory Medicine, in particularly acute post-operative inpatient management and ongoing care of lung transplant recipients. As a joint academic appointee with Monash University, the Associate Professor/Senior Research Fellow will be responsible for leading a research program in the field of Respiratory Medicine.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Demonstrable substantial relevant knowledge and experience in Respiratory Medicine, particularly lung donor and lung transplant recipient assessment, acute peri-operative lung transplant inpatient management and ongoing care of lung transplant recipients, as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Respiratory Medicine.
