About us

FAMILIES WHERE A PARENT HAS A MENTAL ILLNESS PROGRAM is a statewide program that aims to improve the capacity of services to address the needs of all family members when a parent experiences mental-ill-health. Supported by the Bouverie Centre, the Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness teams are employed within Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, to support the AMHWS as well as local organisations. Within AMAH, The Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness team sits within the Adult and Older Adult (AOAS) Program at 607 St Kilda Rd. It supports the entire AMAH Program as well as neighbouring organisations.

About the role

The Child and Young Person Support Worker (CYP) Worker will contribute to the development of group programs and supports for young people within the Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness Program at AMAH. In line with the capacity building value of The Program, The CYP Worker will be committed to professional development and clinical supervision and engage in learning opportunities to continue building their knowledge and skills in the area of parental mental illness and supports for young people. 

About you

• Approved tertiary qualifications and eligibility for membership with relevant registering body:

• • Bachelor and/or Master of Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy or Music Therapy.
  • For Social Workers: Eligibility for membership of AASW.
  • For Occupational Therapists: Registration with AHPRA.
  • For Art Therapists: Registration with ANZACATA.
  • For Music Therapists: Registration with AMTA.
• Eligibility to practice immediately, please note this is not a graduate position for 2027.
