This role offers variety, autonomy, and genuine impact - supporting people and families as they navigate life after brain injury.
The Department
The Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Rehabilitation Service provides specialist state-wide rehabilitation for people with moderate to severe brain injury, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, hypoxic injury and other non-progressive conditions.
The service includes:
- Inpatient Rehabilitation
- Community Rehabilitation
- Transitional Living Program
You’ll be part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team, working with clinicians experienced in complex neurological rehabilitation.
Position Summary
An opportunity exists for an experienced Grade 3 Social Worker to join the ABI Community Rehabilitation Service on a fixed-term basis.
In this role, you will:
- Provide high-quality psychosocial assessment, intervention and care planning
- Support clients and families with complex discharge planning, adjustment to illness and community reintegration
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Provide clinical supervision to staff and Social Work students
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
This role is suited to a clinician with strong rehabilitation experience and an interest in leadership and service improvement.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential
- Qualification in Social Work and eligibility for AASW membership
- Demonstrated experience in rehabilitation, disability, or complex health settings
- Experience working effectively within interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to provide clinical supervision and support staff development
- Strong assessment, care planning, and communication skills
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
Desirable
- Experience in community-based rehabilitation
- Experience contributing to quality improvement or service development
- Postgraduate qualifications (or working towards) in a relevant clinical area
