Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

AMAH's Workforce Development and Education is a dynamic team of interdisciplinary clinicians, carers and peer workers recognising the importance of lifelong learning. The Workforce team focuses on professional development facilitating and actively encouraging staff to participate in a wide range of evidence-based workshops. Assisting with cultural change to Nursing and Allied Health staff working in all areas of psychiatry. We work closely with management and staff to support cultural change and personal development using collaboration.

About the role

The Emergency Psychiatry Practice Development Nurse will work with a highly motivated multi-disciplinary team and play a leadership role in the professional development of mental health nursing staff within the Consultation-Liaison and Emergency Psychiatry services. This nurse will collaborate closely with the Emergency Psychiatry Allied Health Practice Development Clinician to ensure a coordinated, discipline-specific, and integrated approach to workforce capability development across the service.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent OR bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent plus an approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Recent experience working in public mental health service.
  • Experience providing education and or field mentoring, experience providing individual and group supervision and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is desirable.
  • Australian working rights and current Influenza vaccination.
