The Department 

The Pharmacy services operate across all Alfred Health sites and are well recognised nationally and internationally for high quality, innovative, patient-focussed services, education and training programmes as well as significant research output.  Pharmacists are essential members of all clinical teams and have a critical role in patient management. Their understanding of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Medicine Management ensures Alfred Health patients receive the best pharmacy care possible.

Pharmacy activities extend to the Outpatient clinics, where pharmacists conduct clinical reviews of patients receiving complex and changing medications. A recent expansion in this service and associated funding has led to the development of an additional Administrative Office position to support the administrative tasks in this space. You will work as part of a team to manage the outpatient booking process for Pharmacy 

The Role

This Administrative Officer position will foucs on providing support to pharmacist workings in the Outpatient clinics at Alfred Health. Duties includes:

  • Managing new referrals
  • Scheduling and rescheduling patient appointments
  • Completing clinic follow up activities
  • Collecting data for reporting purposes 
  • Communicating with patients, carers,  pharmacy staff and other multidisciplinary team members 
  • Supporting pharmacy staff with administrative tasks 

Qualifications/Experience required

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency including MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel 
  • Previous administration experience in a health setting (desirable) 
  • Knowledge of Cerner Programs or similar public health Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system (desirable) 
  • Understanding and experience supporting outpatient clinics (desirable) 
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology (desirable)
