The newly integrated Adult and Older Adult Service combines the strengths of AMAH Adult Community Mental Health and Caulfield Aged and Liaison Psychiatry Services. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, person-centred support to adults and older adults through an expansive range of therapeutic, addiction, trauma-informed, and family violence services.

As part of our commitment to the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health recommendations and the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, we’re expanding our offerings to ensure clients benefit from specialist expertise alongside access to innovative, broad-spectrum care options. This includes specialised pathways for substance use disorders, rehabilitation and recovery, physical and mental health integration, and trauma-focused services.

 

Our service focuses on integrated treatment, education, peer support, care planning, and navigation services, designed to support individuals through every stage of their recovery journey. You’ll have the opportunity to work in areas such as:

  • Navigations and Continuing Care: Brief Intervention, Access and Intake, CMHT,  Physical Health, and Family Services.
  • Adult Rehabilitation and Recovery: MSTS, CCU, PARC, HOPS, and SECU.
  • Aged/Older Adult Mental Health: MAPS, Caulfield Hospital Community Liaison, and dedicated inpatient units.
  • Wellbeing and Therapeutic Services: Including Psychological Trauma and Capacity Building initiatives.

About the Role

You will be working within the St Kilda Road Clinic, Physical Health Hub, providing evidence-based nutrition care to consumers within the AMAH Adult and Older Adult  Community Mental Health service alongside the Alfred Dietetic and Nutrition Department who have had a long and valued relationship with the Alfred, with the first dietitian being employed in 1930. The department has a proud history of clinical and academic excellenece. It is integral to clnical teaching and training of undergraduate dietitians.  The Nutrition Department supports collective leadership:' working collaboratively towards a common vision by enabling every team member to contribute within an inclusive culture that promotes accountability and trust'.

 

The role includes working both within the Community Mental Health (outpatients) - SKRC, Physical Health Hub (Nurse Practitioner, Dietitians and Exercise Physiologist) and the Alfred Hospital, Dietetics and Nutrition Department, within the Inpatient Psychiatry, Consultant Liaison Psychiatry and General Medicine Stream.
This includes the delivery of individual and group nutrition education and counselling, cooking groups and upskilling colleagues in promoting the importance of physical health within mental health services. 
You will be achieving operational effectiveness whilst working collaboratively within the Community Mental Health Team and The Alfred Nutrition department.  Your involvement in, and contribution towards quality activities, under the guidance of stream leader, will assist to improve the quality of care for our clients.

 

What you've got

Approved tertiary qualifications and eligibility for full membership with the Dietitians’ Australia (DA)

Graduated in the past 12 months

Participates in the Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) Program

Current Victorian Driver's License

Be willing to undergo a Background Check
