DEPARTMENT:

Health Information Services provides a range of functions including medical record management, clinical information requests, VAED statutory reporting, transcription, admissions (Caulfield) and Switchboard and Enquiries services.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Alfred Hospital and the Paula Fox Melanoma Cancer Centre Enquiries desks are busy and dynamic administrative areas that provide front of house services, including in-person assistance and telephone enquiries. 

The successful applicants will be responsible for providing a professional representation of Alfred Health. You will be required to handle inpatient enquiries, face to face communication with patients and visitors and other administrative functions as required.

The successful applicant must be customer focused and demonstrate excellent, clear and effective communication skills. The ability to prioritise tasks, promote and maintain good customer relations, professional behaviour and team-spirit will be essential.

The Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre (PFMCC) is a newly constructed six -storey building, located on the Alfred Health Campus.  The centre is scheduled for practical completion in late February 2024, commissioning during February and March in preparation for the official opening in late April. The commencement of clinical operations in planned for May 2024.

The centre will provide specialist multidisciplinary, comprehensive care for patients with melanoma and other cancers, integrated with leading medical imaging modalities and research functions to enable seamless and exceptional patient experience.  It will support patients through pathways of care designed to adapt to the needs of individual patients, their families and significant others. 

The centre will be home to research laboratories, day-oncology services, specialists consulting suites, procedural spaces, multidisciplinary meeting rooms, a clinical trials centre, offices for staff, clinical imaging, a wellness centre, wellness garden and two levels of patient car parking. The Centre will also provide a foundation for Trial Hub flagship initiatives and provide expanded capacity for research and Clinical Trials, supporting the delivery of bench to bedside and bedside to bench research on the one campus. This will enhance The Alfred’s role as a leading clinical and translational research precinct.   

The centre will have capacity to care for up to 300 patients per day.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous reception experience is highly desirable.
  • Previous clerical experience, preferably in a Hospital environment. Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.   
  • Demonstrate superb organisational skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to work well under pressure
  • Negotiation and conflict management abilities
  • Sound MS Office abilities, including basic Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of healthcare organisations
