Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About us

The Alfred Mains Operating Suite consists of 10 theatres and sees an emergent and elective patient cohort. It operates under the governance of Surgical Services organisationally reporting to the Alfred Theatre Operations Manager, Deputy Director of Operations and Nursing and the Director of Operations.

About the role

The Nurse Manager is a professional and clinical leader in Nursing Services and plays a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives. The Nurse Manager operationalizes the core values of Nursing at Alfred Health by ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff. She /He is accountable for developing staff to deliver excellence in clinical practice, and is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems to improve patient outcomes.

The Nurse Manager facilitates effective patient access to clinical services managing both financial and human resources to meet these needs.

About you

  • Current Registered Nurse Division 1 Registration with AHPRA
  • Extensive relevant clinical experience in acute care nursing and in a clinical leadership role
  • Postgraduate qualifications in management or working towards an equivalent qualification
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check
  • Current and satisfactory Working With Children Check
