The Department 

Bayside Health Finance supports a large, complex public health service through high-quality budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial advice. The team works closely with operational, capital and project stakeholders across Bayside Health to support informed decision-making, strong financial controls and fit-for-purpose financial information. 

The Role 

The Management Accountant (Capital and Finance Projects) reports to the Senior Manager Capital and Finance Projects and provides accurate, timely and customer-focused financial support across allocated capital, project and operational portfolios across Bayside Health services.

The role supports service improvement, reform, organisational, capital and finance-led projects by assisting with analytics, funding calculations, cost modelling, capital project budgets, forecasts, month-end and year-end reporting, accruals, journals and general financial advice. Working closely with senior colleagues, program and project stakeholders and the broader Finance team, you will help ensure financial information, analysis and advice is accurate, robust, fit for purpose and supports effective decision-making.

Experience and Qualifications Required 

The successful candidate will bring the following key skills, capabilities and experience: 

• Demonstrated finance acumen, business understanding and capability in management accounting, financial analysis, funding calculations, cost modelling and project finance support within a large, complex health service.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, finance and reporting systems knowledge, and a commitment to producing high quality work within agreed timeframes.
• Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with capital, project, operational and Finance stakeholders.
• Ability to support accurate and timely month-end and year-end reporting for capital and project portfolios, including accruals, journals, registers, approvals, documentation and other finance-related transactions.
• Demonstrated understanding of financial controls, Delegations of Authority, internal finance policies and quality assurance processes relevant to capital and project finance activities.
• Experience maintaining organised project finance records, SharePoint sites, document libraries, working papers, approvals and reporting files.
• A business or accounting degree, or equivalent experience.
• Membership of, or progress towards, Chartered Accountants, CPA or an international equivalent is desirable, but not mandatory.
• Experience or knowledge relating to Victorian Public Health is desirable, but not mandatory.
