The Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner Southeastern area of Melbourne.

The AMAH Strategy & Planning (S&P) team provides strategic consultancy, advisory and project management services across mental health service planning, health system design, organisational development and reform. Sitting at the centre of AMAH and positioned outside day-to-day operations, the team works across all clinical programs and enabling portfolios, offering a unique systems-level perspective. This multidisciplinary team integrates clinical expertise, lived and living experience, and strategic acumen to lead evidence-informed initiatives, influence sector reform, and translate policy into meaningful, measurable change.

The Role

In this role, you will play a pivotal role within the S&P team, providing senior-level project leadership and strategic coordination across AMAH's complex and high-priority initiatives. The role contributes a systems-level perspective across all of S&P's core functions, from strategic advisory and service planning to capital works, change leadership, lived experience engagement, and organisational development. The Senior Project Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy under the broad direction of Manager, S&P, to lead end-to-end project delivery, shape strategic products, and play an active role in building S&P's impact across AMAH, Bayside Health and the broader mental health sector.

Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant health discipline (health administration, public health, nursing, social work, occupational therapy or related).
  • Where relevant, registration with relevant professional organisation with relevant professional organisation or body (Nursing and Midwifery Board/Occupational Therapy Board via AHPRA, or eligibility with AASW).
  • Substantial experience in project management, including leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects in a health or public sector environment, with understanding of theory and application of improvement, project management, change management and/or co-design methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in health service planning, service redesign, or capital works commissioning.
  • Experience preparing business cases, funding submissions, strategic reports, and executive-level communications.
  • Australian working rights
  • Current Influenza vaccination and be willing to complete a background check
