The Department
The Department of Cardiology provides a complete range of cardiology services covering General Cardiology, Heart Failure, Structural Heart and Arrhythmia specialities and undertakes clinical research activities in affiliation with Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. The Cardiology Department is involved in a large number of international and local clinical trials from Phase 1 first in human to Phase 3 randomised controlled trials investigating newly developed drugs and devices for clinical use in Cardiovascular medicine.
The Role
Department of Cardiology is seeking a part time research nurse to work in A/Prof James Shaw's team.
Duties include but not limited to, assisting in screening and recruiting subjects into a clinical research study, completing study related procedures and documentation and entering data into online web-based systems. In conjunction, the successful applicant will assist in study specific clinical care and communicate effectively with patients, staff, sponsors and study personnel. The successful applicant will gain valued exposure to the Cardiology department, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Hyperlipemia and build upon their excellent clinical knowledge, familiarising themselves with device and drug research within the department.
Administrative work is also required in relation to study drug/devices, with the relevant training to be provided.
Experience and Qualifications Required
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registration with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Diploma in Nursing or a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent certification)
- Certification in research Good Clinical Practice
- Certification in Safe transport of Infectious Substances by air course. CASA approved.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of cardiovascular nursing experience
- Research experience, including a demonstrated capacity to produce measurable research outcomes
- Experience in project management is preferred but not essential
- Experience in industry and/or experience with professional societies would be an advantage.
- Experience in the preparation of Human Research Ethics Committee and Grant applications would be an advantage is preferred but not essential
