Join the Council’s dynamic Governance and Civic Support team as a Governance Trainee and kick-start your career in local government! This 12-month traineeship offers hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals while you complete your Certificate III in Business.
About the Role
You'll play a vital role in supporting Council operations, from organising Council meetings to maintaining their website and assisting with governance activities that keep the community connected and informed.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
· Coordinate Council meeting logistics including catering, documentation, and room setup
· Prepare purchase orders and manage scheduling
· Handle general administrative tasks across the service unit
Governance & Communications:
· Process requests to speak at Council meetings and public questions
· Update Council's website and intranet with approved content
· Maintain Council registers and prepare meeting documents
· Liaise with subject matter experts on governance queries
· Create ID cards and support various governance activities
What You’ll Bring:
Essential:
· Commitment to completing Certificate III Business Administration (key component of role)
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
· Willingness to learn and provide support in a fast-paced environment, managing challenging priorities.
· Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft applications
· Understanding of confidentiality and discretion requirements
· Customer service focus
Desirable:
· Driver's licence (preferred but not essential)
