The opportunity
Our national Occupational Hygiene team brings together licensed asbestos assessors, certified occupational hygienists, toxicologists, microbiologists, and lab experts—all united by one mission: protecting workers' health.
As a Principal Occupational Hygienist, you’ll be the go-to expert helping clients anticipate, recognise, evaluate, and control risks from hazardous materials and workplace exposures.

Recent projects have seen us deliver tailored occupational hygiene solutions to a wide range of clients, including Defence, Oil & Gas industries, Mining businesses, Building & Infrastructure clients, Water industry groups, and SafeWork / CSIRO clients.
The location for this is flexible; when not required on site, you will have the option to work from home up to two days per week and any of our Australian offices in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth, or Adelaide.

This position will include training to develop new aspects of your role, while also giving you opportunities to train and support others.
What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive occupational health risk assessments for hazards including but not limited to silica, noise, chemical exposures, clandestine drug labs, vibration, lead, asbestos, biological hazards, and indoor air quality
- Use cutting edge equipment and methods to monitor workers for exposure to hazards
- Perform indoor air quality testing and analysis
- Design effective strategies for hazard remediation and prevention
- Undertake technical supervision, inspections and monitoring during site remediation works
- Assess health risks and provide expert advice with support from senior technical specialists and Certified Occupational Hygienists (COH)
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary working in acoustics, contaminated land, engineering and fire safety.
- Produce technical reports to a high standard, including technical peer review of reports
- Strong professional development, with opportunity to mentor staff
- Assist the team with strategy and business development
- Nurture client relationships to expand regional business opportunities
About you
You are likely to have tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Health or Environmental Science, complemented by several years of experience in measuring and assessing workplace hazards including environmental factors as well as chemical, physical, ergonomic, and biological hazards.
You will ideally bring the following:
- Confidence to communicate hazards and risks with clients, from the boardroom to the field
- Experience in analysing complex results and datasets, and writing technical reports, with a desire to progress your project management skills
- Strong knowledge of work health and safety regulations, or health risk assessment
- A specialisation/certification in occupational hygiene and /or mould assessment and remediation would be highly regarded
- AIOH Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene certification, or, qualifications in chemistry, biology or toxicology
- High attention to detail and responsive to clients’ needs
- Be willing to work remotely, with occasional weekends and overtime
- Australian Driver's License
