The Opportunity
As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, integration, and delivery of control and automation systems for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support major programs such as DOWSP and PSP, while also contributing to new pursuits across Queensland and beyond.
This role offers a 50:50 balance between technical delivery and project/design management, ideal for someone ready to step into a leadership role while remaining hands-on.
What We’ll Love About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Control Systems, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is essential; RPEQ is highly desirable.
- 5–15 years of experience delivering control systems for projects in power generation (coal, gas, CCGT, hydro, renewables), oil and gas, and other process industries.
- Proven capability in specification, concept and detailed design, testing, and commissioning.
- Highly desirable technical competencies include:
- Certified Functional Safety Engineer
- Hazardous Area – Classification, Design, Installation & Maintenance
- Control Systems Maintenance
- Proficiency with current DCS, PLC, SIS, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and actuators.
- Ability to prepare designs, drawings, specifications, and technical reports, and conduct audits and due diligence.
- Experience managing medium-complexity projects and leading teams, including mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong client focus with a track record in business development, proposal preparation, and client relationship management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for delivering safe, high-quality, and commercially sound outcomes.
- Demonstrates a strong client focus, willing to participate in business development activities, including client relationship management, pursuits and proposal preparation.
- Skilled at collaborative working, have good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
