Our Mining Group

Our global team of over 5,200 dedicated mining professionals are supporting the industry to decarbonise mining operations in the accelerating green transition. Working collaboratively across borders and disciplines, you’ll join a leading team working on interesting and complex projects. We are experts in our field, and we are passionate about mining.

What you’ll do:

At WSP, our Mine Advisory team partners with clients to deliver world-class mining projects across the full asset lifecycle. We’re now looking for a passionate Water Resources Engineer to join our growing national team and support a diverse range of mine water management and hydrology-related projects. Your day to day will look like;

  • Assist and/or conduct rainfall, flow and flood assessments, including modelling, mapping, flood mitigation design, and risk assessments.
  • Support and assist in developing existing Mine Water group capability in stormwater management and flood studies (in both mining and urban environments).
  • Assist in a range of water management related studies and investigations from pre-feasibility through to detailed design.
  • Collaborating with teams across hydrogeology, geotechnical, civil and environmental disciplines.
  • Preparing technical reports and supporting proposals for a variety of mining clients.
  • Entry level and/or support to project management, including project scoping, budget control, planning and development of schedules.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field with a strong focus on hydrology and hydraulics.
  • 3+ years’ experience in water engineering, ideally with exposure to the mining or resources sector.
  • Technical capability in water balance modelling, flood studies, and drainage design.
  • Display an aptitude or proficiency with hydraulic and flood modelling software (e.g. HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, and MIKE).
  • Technical writing skills with experience in proposal writing and technical reporting.
