We are currently seeking a Security Supervisor to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Buka, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Security Superintendent, the Security Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of Security Operations of the Gold Room and the Simberi Mine Lease to ensure accountability and compliance and to provide stability to the working community on the mine lease

The role incumbent and manager will identify and review the specific compliance requirements of the role.

The opportunity

Role Accountabilities

  • Lead and supervise team of security officers, providing guidance with training and ensuring high performance and adherence to company policies.
  • Coordinate security operations and activities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of HSE and Security management practices.
  • Respond to emergencies and security incidents promptly and effectively.
  • Supervise and monitor CCTV, alarms and access control systems and ensure all security equipment is operational and initiate repairs or replacements when necessary.
  • Supervise and support bullion shipment coordination with verification of Gold Shipment documents.
  • On standby to assist Gold Room security duties upon request.
  • Coordinate security surveillance and investigation into security risk and issues impacting product and production.
  • Investigate security breaches, prepare detailed investigative incident reports and actions taken.
  • Coordinate and supervise Manhaul transportation for employees/contractors on timely manner.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all security and guard post orders, ensuring all directives are adhered by the Security Contractor (G4S).
  • Conduct regular security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments to ensure the safety of employees and facilities.
  • Prepare and submit detailed, accurate daily activities report documenting all observations, incidents and irregularities at the end of each shift.
  • Act as a liaison with law enforcement and other relevant authorities.
  • Conduct 274 inspections and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and relevant industry standards of practice.
  • Assist Security Team Leader with site security operations.
  • Always on standby for On-Call to support the superintendent after normal working hours.

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Proven experience in security operations (mining/industrial preferred)
  • Previous supervisory/team leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of security procedures, access control, and patrols
  • Ability to manage incidents, emergencies, and conflict resolutions
  • Good understanding of safety standards and site protocols
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, radio)
  • Ability to prepare reports and maintain records
  • Physically fit and able to work FIFO roster and shift work
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism
  • Basic computer skills (email, reporting systems)
  • Must pass Pre-Employment Medical (PEMs)

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a mining or remote site environment
  • Security-related certifications or training
  • Knowledge of PNG security regulations and practices
  • Experience managing large teams or contractors
  • First Aid or emergency response training
  • Familiarity with CCTV, Access Control Systems and Surveillance Systems
