We are currently seeking a Security – Team Leader to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Buka, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible to lead and coordinate various aspects of the Security department which include amongst others, the security and surveillance process, security training, enforce related policies and to provide expertise and advice on all security, surveillance, and enforcement related issues.

The opportunity
General
- Assist in the coordination of surveillance and investigation into security risk and issues impacting product and production
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and relevant industry standards of practice.
- Ensure continuous evaluation of the HSE and Security aspects of equipment and services.
- Ensure continuous improvement of HSE and Security management practices.
- Actively seeks and participates in cost reduction opportunities.
Training
- Identify training requirements of subordinates through consultation with the employees and the Simberi Gold Company Training Department
- Using established training methods and in conjunction with the Training Department train subordinates to achieve competency in the area identified and within the scope of their position
- Participate in training provided by the business
- Develops team members through regular feedback, coaching and formal training
- To be able to work in a team with effective leading and management skills/techniques.
- Creates opportunities for people to work together to enable them to contribute to the business and learn from each other.
Occupational, Health & Safety
- Leads in upholding the Safety of self, team members and others through engagement
- Drives and influences proactive safety behaviours within the team and others in engagement
- Ensures all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE and Security requirements
- Plans work so that it can be conducted safely; and considers environmental conditions, nearby activities, and the people and other resources needed to complete the work.
Community Relations
- Work with and develop the community through the support of company initiatives

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- Current PNG Driver’s License
- 3 yrs minimum Experience with firearms
- 3+ years relevant work experience in a leading Security role in a large-scale mining operation essential.
- Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training
Desirable
- Experience in mining, oil and gas or remote site operations.
