We are currently seeking a Contracts Administrator to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Buka, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

Reporting to the Contracts & Procurement Superintendent, this role will analyse contracts with an eye toward reducing costs and increasing profits, while ensuring compliance with the law.

The opportunity

Technical accountabilities

  • Ensuring your own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers by identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
  • Inviting, processing and assisting in the evaluation of tenders.
  • Analysing potential risks involved with specific contract terms - IPA Registrations, Nasfund compliance, insurances updated and provided in compliance with SGCL requirements.
  • Stay up-to date with legislative changes and coordinate with the legal and Risk departments as needed.
  • Ensuring all deadlines and conditions described on contracts are met (e.g. payments and shipping)
  • Maintaining organised system of physical and digital records.
  • Assist the Contract Specialist correspond with Suppliers during Tenders and Agreement executions.
  • Keep up to date the Master Contracts Register
  • Keep up to date the daily activities tracker, insurance tracker, New Vendor tracker, default notice tracker and the local company register.
  • Take minutes of meetings for the Contracts & Procurement section.
  • Follow up outstanding action items from meetings and default notices.

Scheduling accountabilities

  • Managing the effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the Contracts & Procurement section.

  • Contributing to an effective team/crew.
  • Ensuring your own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara Values
  • Proven work experience as a Contracts Administrator or relevant role
  • At least 5 years relevant contract management experience
  • Knowledge of legal requirements involved with contracts
  • Keen attention to detail, with an ability to spot errors
  • ·Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Previous exposure in a mining environment 

Desirable

  • Our ideal candidate will have previous experience managing contracts and is familiar with legal requirements and terms of use.
