Your Opportunity

To practice employment law in a way that’s more collaborative, more commercial, and more human. At Source, we’re reimagining what it looks like to deliver expert, in-house-style legal services — and we’re looking for an Employment Counsel who wants to grow, shape and be part of that journey.

Whether you're looking for full-time or part-time hours, this role offers the flexibility to build a career that works for you — without compromising on quality, impact or team culture.

If you love variety, thrive on solving real-world problems for clients, and want to be part of a high-performing team where your ideas actually shape how we work — this is your role.

About Source

Source is the smarter way to deliver in-house professional services. We provide high-quality, on-demand legal, HR, governance, risk and compliance support across a broad range of industries and clients.

We’re a values-led, people-first business — and we believe that when we take care of our people, they deliver outstanding results. Our clients come to us because we offer real partnership: smart, pragmatic advice embedded into their day-to-day operations.

The Role

As Employment Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in delivering practical, business-led advice to our clients across a broad range of workplace and industrial matters. You’ll work closely with clients on matters including:

  • General employment and workplace relations advice
  • Interpretation and application of employment agreements and policies
  • Drafting workplace documents, contracts and advisory notes
  • Advising on performance management and disciplinary processes
  • Navigating complaints, disputes and conflict in the workplace
  • Supporting restructures, exits and redundancy processes
  • Managing engagement with external counsel where needed
  • Providing legal guidance during workplace investigations

What We’re Looking For

We want good humans — technically strong, commercially minded lawyers who genuinely care about their work and their clients. If you’re someone who takes ownership, sees the bigger picture, and thrives on making an impact — you’ll fit right in.

You’ll also bring:

  • 2-4 years’ post-qualification experience in employment law
  • Experience in private practice, in-house, or a blend of both
  • Strong communication and drafting skills
  • Confidence working directly with clients and stakeholders
  • A practical, down-to-earth approach to problem solving
  • Great time management and a calm, can-do attitude

What’s in it for You?

  • Work with our outstanding Workplace Law team, in a fun and highly collaborative work environment.
  • Be part of the HPX Group and work collaboratively alongside Hamilton Locke, Australia's fastest growing law firm.
  • Exposure to a variety of clients, industries and employment issues
  • An extra week of personal development leave each year
  • Fun team retreats, development days and regular social events
  • A chance to do law differently — and love the way you work
  • Flexible working arrangements to support your life and wellbeing.
  • No time sheets!

If you're ready for a new way of working in employment law — one that puts people, purpose and flexibility first — we’d love to hear from you. Click Apply or reach out for a confidential chat.
