Junior Mainframe COBOL Application DeveloperOn-Site

Security Clearance Required for this role:

• Must have a Current Baseline security clearance.
• The role will be located in either Adelaide, Brisbane CBD, Canberra or Melbourne CBD offices.

We’re looking for motivated Junior IT Mainframe COBOL Application Developers to design, build, test, and maintain applications that support enterprise-wide operations.

In this role, you’ll work within a scrum team, partner with business stakeholders, and contribute to delivering high-quality, secure, and reliable IT solutions.

What you’ll do:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC, including design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Support key IT processes such as release, change, configuration, incident, and problem management.
• Collaborate within an agile environment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and support junior team members.
• Provide clear and professional technical advice across multiple communication channels.

What we’re looking for:

• Must have 1–2+ years of experience (including academic or internship exposure) in software development, ideally in mainframe or COBOL-based environments.
• Understanding or exposure to COBOL, JCL, DB2, or mainframe systems.
• Transferable technical skills such as debugging, batch processing, or working with legacy systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with an eagerness to learn and grow.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
