About the Camp

Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Camp is an alpine centre and adventure camp located by Falls Creek, and managed by YMCA Camps. Catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Howmans Gap run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from skiing and tobogganing in winter, to orienteering and mountain biking in summer. Featuring state-of-the-art accessible accommodation, cosy cottages, and full catering options, Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Centre is the perfect place to explore the great outdoors, come snow or sunshine.

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant/Cleaner, you will work within the catering team to ensure all campers receive delicious meals during their stay. You will be responsible for:

• Preparing and providing food for campers, including the coordination of special diets
• Assembling and preparing ingredients as required
• Applying best practice as outlined in the camp’s food safety program
• Undertaking cleaning duties using specialized equipment and chemicals
• Receiving, storing and distributing cleaning goods
• Recording any maintenance requirements and report major issues to management
• Undertaking routine repair work and other general duties such as gardening as required

This is a casual role with an hourly rate of $29.12 + Super.

Mandatory Qualifications

• DoFoodSafely Certificate (online free short-course)

About You

You are a motivated individual with a commitment to perform to their best. You possess problem-solving skills and can apply initiative to work unsupervised, if required. Previous catering, cleaning or hospitality experience, and knowledge and understanding of kitchen operations will be highly regarded.
