YMCA Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Centre, located in the Falls Creek region, is seeking a passionate Maintenance Officer to join their dynamic team in the High Plains of Victoria.

About the Camp

Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Centre is an alpine centre and adventure camp located by Falls Creek, and managed by YMCA Camps. Catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Howmans Gap run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from skiing and tobogganing in winter, to orienteering and mountain biking in summer. Featuring state-of-the-art accessible accommodation, cosy cottages, and full catering options, Howmans Gap Alpine Centre is the perfect place to explore the great outdoors, come snow or sunshine.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Officer, you will working with the maintenance team to ensure that the campgrounds and its state-of-the-art facilities are clean, maintained and presentable. You will be responsible for:

  • General maintenance of Howmans Gap, including buildings and campgrounds
  • Developing, designing, building and maintaining new garden areas and vegetable/edible gardens, in line with the camp’s Environmental Management Plan
  • Upholding the values of the YMCA at all times

This is a casual position with an hourly rate of $31.26 + Super. The role may also be offered on a part-time basis to the right candidate.

About You

You are a handy person with knowledge and/or experience in gardening principles and maintenance. You possess attention to detail and pride in your work. You are an excellent problem solver with effective time management skills, allowing you to multitask and prioritise work where required. You are a strong communicator and be able to demonstrate the core values of the Y, day-to-day.
