About the role

The purpose of the Inventory Purchasing Officer is to ensure the timely supply of materials in the right quantities at the right price, while ensuring stock availability to our Warehouses, depots and stations in support of the Gas Services Portfolio of Work.

The position is responsible for the end-to-end management of procure-to-pay processes and proactively explores continuous improvement opportunities to further optimise inventory and reduce costs. A key success factor in the role is to actively engage with key stakeholders whilst working closely with Inventory Analysts and Vendors to effectively and efficiently ensure that materials supply meets operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Daily review & conversion of purchase requisitions to purchase orders (SAP ERP)
  • Running relevant SAP reports on a daily/weekly basis to best manage the backorder of inventory
  • Actively working with vendors to seek ways to minimise stockouts and/or expediting stock
  • Monitoring stock levels and pro-actively identify purchasing requirements
  • Ongoing collaboration with Accounts / Finance teams in the invoice reconciliation process
  • Collaborating with Operations, HSE, Works Practices and Engineering groups to ensure material compliance to relevant Standards
  • Assist in the management of inventory Master Data (creation, extension, obsolescence)
  • Timely communication of customer backorders and updating SAP delivery dates for data accuracy

About You

The successful applicant will require previous experience working in an inventory /purchasing /procurement role and have a sound understanding of inventory, warehousing and logistics.

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Business or Supply Chain, Logistics related field (ideal but not essential)
  • Experience working in asset management environment/industry
  • Proven knowledge and experience of SAP Materials Management (ECC6, Hana or Fiori)
  • Strong customer service, stakeholder engagement and support skills
  • Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suites (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Highly motivated with a drive to succeed, the Inventory Purchasing Officer will be responsible for monitoring and replenishment of finished goods materials (inventory) on a timely basis for the successful delivery of programs of work
