Works Practices Specialist

Who We Are

Zinfra is a leading partner in the design, build, operation and maintenance of Australia’s energy and utilities infrastructure. Delivering over $1B portfolio annually, the work we do is essential to bringing energy to our communities safely and reliably, while powering the nation’s energy transition. With a diverse workforce of more than 2,300, we expertly deliver our services across Australia.

At Zinfra, we know that strong, capable and confident women play a vital role in shaping the future of energy. We’re seeking a Works Practices Specialist who is passionate about safety, collaboration and lifting capability across Gas Distribution operations.

If you’re an experienced Gas Distribution professional who thrives on mentoring others, strengthening standards and creating safer outcomes for teams and communities, this role offers the opportunity to make meaningful impact.

About the Role

As a trusted technical leader, you will:

  • Provide specialist technical and procedural guidance to Gas Distribution field teams
  • Coach, mentor and empower Apprentices, Technicians and Supervisors
  • Develop and refine Gas Distribution Manuals, Work Instructions and Guidelines
  • Support and enhance enterprise training and competency frameworks
  • Maintain training matrices and worker authorisation systems
  • Conduct and support task observations to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to incident investigations and drive practical, preventative solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Asset Management and HSEQ teams

This is a role for someone who values clarity, structure and accountability — and who takes pride in helping others succeed safely.

About You

You are technically strong, detail-oriented and confident in your expertise — but equally, you will support and advise with empathy, integrity and collaboration.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in Gas field operations (Distribution, Construction, Transmission and customer interfaces)
  • Experience supporting or delivering training and competency programs
  • Practical experience developing or reviewing procedures, SWMS and technical documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of Gas Distribution standards including AS/NZS 4645 and AS5601
  • Understanding of audit processes, compliance systems and incident investigation
  • A trade or technical qualification in the Gas Industry (Plumbing & Gas fitting, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or equivalent)
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) highly desirable

You are someone who:

  • Communicates complex technical information clearly and confidently
  • Builds trust across operational teams
  • Is proactive in identifying risks and implementing solutions
  • Holds yourself accountable to high standards
  • Is committed to continuous improvement and supporting others to grow

This position plays a critical role in strengthening compliance, uplifting capability and ensuring consistent, safe delivery across our Gas Distribution network. Your voice, expertise and leadership will directly influence operational excellence and workforce confidence.
