About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Crew Leader / Leading Hand to join our Canberra team, delivering underground utility and civil infrastructure projects across the ACT.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work alongside a crew of 3–4, guiding day-to-day activities on site. You’ll play a key role in coordinating works, supporting your team, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
If you’re a natural leader who enjoys being out in the field and leading by example, this is a great opportunity to step up while staying hands-on.
Key Responsibilities include
- Lead and coordinate crews on civil trenching and pipe laying works
- Work alongside the team on excavation, installation, and reinstatement
- Plan daily activities and ensure crews are set up for success
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and compliance requirements
- Liaise with field teams, schedulers, and contractors on site
- Mentor and support team members to build capability
Roster: Monday to Friday with ad-hoc weekend work as required.

About You
- Proven experience in civil construction, pipelaying, or utilities
- Experience leading or guiding crews (formal or informal leadership)
- Strong understanding of trenching, excavation, and underground works
- Current HR licence (required)
- Relevant tickets: White Card, Traffic Management, Asbestos Awareness
- A strong safety focus and ability to lead by example on site
