About the role

The purpose of the Purchasing Assistant is to provide a range of administrative, purchasing and inventory management services to support the achievement of business unit outcomes in a timely, reliable and efficient manner including time writing, travel, stationery, security and mail administration.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Providing a full range of administrative and clerical support services for the business unit
  • Responding to incoming enquiries (phone, fax, email or in person), providing information and referring enquiries in an effective, timely and responsive manner
  • Maintaining the computerised records management system and creating, storeing, retrieving and archiving files to ensure the accurate and safe storage of information and contributing to a timely response for information.
  • Creating purchase requisitions via reservations for other business departments (eg. safety footwear)
  • Following up open purchase orders and/or goods receipting of purchases for minor non stock goods or services

About You

The successful applicant will require previous experience working in an administrative role and have a sound understanding of inventory, warehousing and logistics.

  • Experience working in an administrative position
  • Proven knowledge and experience of SAP
  • Strong customer service, stakeholder engagement and support skills
  • Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suites (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Highly motivated with a drive to succeed
