About the role
We’re seeking a Team Leader, based in Longford, Victoria and overseeing the southern section of the Eastern Gas Pipeline, who will inspire and guide a high-performing team culture while overseeing operations, maintenance, and projects for gas transmission pipelines and facilities.
In this role, you’ll champion a collaborative and safety-focused environment, ensuring operational integrity, compliance, and the successful delivery of planned and corrective maintenance, emergency response, and capital works within your region. You’ll empower your field team, foster continuous improvement, and build strong relationships with stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
Key Responsibilities include
- Manage safe operations of gas transmission pipelines and facilities
- Lead and mentor field teams and apprentices to deliver maintenance and project works on time and to quality standards
- Drive safety culture through leadership walks, training, and compliance with HSEQ requirements
- Coordinate emergency response and participate in on-call roster as required
- Oversee program planning, budgeting, and resource forecasting
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
- Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and compliance with statutory requirements
- Champion a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing team culture, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement
- Ensure field resources are appropriately trained, competent, and complete scheduled works within agreed timeframes
- Support onboarding and induction of new team members and contractors, ensuring compliance with site-specific safety and operational protocols
- Participate in audits, inspections, and task observations to ensure ongoing compliance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Promote professional development and career growth within the team, supporting learning pathways and upskilling initiatives
- Uphold duty of care and minimum HSE expectations, ensuring requirements are strictly followed
About You
You’re a proactive leader with strong technical expertise and a passion for safety and operational excellence. You will also possess the following skills and attributes:
- Relevant trade or tertiary qualification
- Experience in gas transmission operations and maintenance
- Strong technical knowledge of pipelines, facilities, and rotating equipment
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and stakeholder relationships effectively
