About the role:
Our expanding ACT operation is seeking a Construction Manager to work on our power and gas projects! The role delivers safe, efficient, and high‑quality construction outcomes across gas and electricity distribution projects. Responsible for shaping project plans, budgets, and resource strategies, the role ensures all works are effectively coordinated and executed to contractual and regulatory standards. Providing strong leadership to supervisors, field crews, and contractors, the Construction Manager drives performance, manages operational risks, and maintains a relentless focus on safety and asset integrity. By overseeing the timely and cost‑effective delivery of complex construction programs, the role supports reliable network performance and contributes to the long‑term resilience of essential energy infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing internal resources, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure all personnel are competent, properly qualified, and performing efficiently within project scope.
- Coaching and supporting teams while monitoring quality, productivity, utilisation, and HSE compliance, and resolving issues in partnership with site supervision.
- Driving accountability for personal performance, professional standards, and pride in work delivery across all crews.
- Providing regular, face‑to‑face performance feedback to build capability, strengthen engagement, and minimise turnover.
- Role‑modelling company values and building strong relationships that positively influence culture and collaboration across stakeholders.
- Forecasting program resource requirements accurately and managing budgets, costs, and financial reporting with precision.
- Determining optimal delivery resources, planning cost‑effective schedules, and overseeing execution to meet time, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Managing program risks, documentation, compliance, and on‑site audits to ensure safe, consistent, and high‑standard delivery.
- Engaging stakeholders effectively, balancing customer, regulatory, and commercial demands while driving continuous improvement and timely issue resolution.
About you:
The ideal candidate is a confident construction leader with strong technical knowledge of gas and electricity networks and proven capability managing diverse field crews across multiple sites. They bring sound judgement, excellent stakeholder skills, and the ability to balance safety, quality, budget, and customer expectations while delivering complex works efficiently and safely.
- Holding a formal trade and/or technical qualification relevant to gas or electrical network construction.
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of high‑ and low‑voltage systems and gas distribution networks.
- Bringing proven experience managing crews, contractors, budgets, and construction methodologies across complex sites.
- Showing strong decision‑making, planning, and problem‑solving capability in high‑pressure environments.
- Possessing excellent stakeholder, communication, and relationship‑building skills across customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Exhibiting strong attention to detail, organisational capability, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Displaying leadership qualities including coaching, accountability, and the ability to delegate effectively.
