About Zinfra:

Zinfra is a leading partner in the design, build, operation and maintenance of Australia’s energy and utilities infrastructure. Delivering over $1B portfolio annually, the work we do is essential to bringing energy to our communities safely and reliably, while powering the nation’s energy transition. With a diverse workforce of more than 2,300, we expertly deliver our services across Australia.

About the role:

Our expanding ACT operation is seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver complex civil engineering projects across our portfolio. The role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of construction outcomes, ensuring projects are planned, coordinated, and executed in line with contractual, regulatory, and commercial requirements.

With accountability for project scope, programme, budget, and resources, the Project Manager provides strong leadership to site teams, consultants, and contractors, driving performance while managing risk and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and constructability. By overseeing the timely and cost‑effective delivery of multi‑disciplinary civil works, the role contributes to the long‑term reliability, resilience, and value of essential infrastructure assets.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing project teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure resources are appropriately skilled, qualified, and deployed efficiently within project scope.
  • Leading, coaching, and supporting site and delivery teams while monitoring programme, cost, quality, productivity, and HSE performance.
  • Driving accountability for individual and team performance, professional standards, and excellence in project delivery.
  • Providing regular, meaningful performance feedback to build capability, engagement, and retention across project teams.
  • Role modelling company values and fostering strong, collaborative relationships with clients, delivery partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes, cost forecasts, and risk registers, ensuring accurate financial reporting and cost control.
  • Planning and sequencing works to optimise constructability, minimise risk, and achieve time, quality, and commercial outcomes.
  • Managing project governance, documentation, compliance, and site audits to ensure consistent adherence to safety, quality, and contractual standards
  • Engaging proactively with stakeholders, balancing client, regulatory, community, and commercial requirements while driving continuous improvement and timely issue resolution.

About you:

The ideal candidate is a capable and confident Project Manager with a strong background delivering civil engineering projects in live or complex environments. You bring sound judgement, strong commercial and programme management skills, and the ability to balance safety, quality, time, cost, and stakeholder expectations while delivering outcomes efficiently and professionally.

  • Holding a degree or formal qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrating proven experience managing civil construction projects across planning, design, and delivery phases.
  • Bringing strong capability in programme management, cost control, contract administration, and risk management.
  • Showing sound decision‑making, planning, and problem‑solving skills in time‑critical and high‑pressure environments.
  • Possessing excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship‑building skills across clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Exhibiting strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Displaying leadership qualities including accountability, coaching, collaboration, and the ability to influence without authority.
