About the role

As an AMI Field Technician (Smart Meter Technician), you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and supporting the performance of the AMI smart meter network. Your key responsibility will be to identify, investigate, diagnose, and rectify communication faults to ensure the accurate and reliable operation of smart meters across the network.

You’ll also work closely with customers and other stakeholders to gain access to metering locations, perform meter reads, and install or replace hardware as required.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Attend to faulty meters to diagnose faults and track issues through to completion of works
  • Identify any patterns associated with repetitive faults and proposes solutions
  • Installation of external antenna’s
  • Issuing work orders to external contractors
  • Update of systems utilising a variety of specialist software packages
  • Participate in work group meetings, site meetings, audits, and training as required

About You

The successful applicant will have worked in a similar role in a live electrical environment, have the ability to manage workload across geographically diverse data networks and have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with internal &/external stakeholders.

  •  Strong understanding of wireless IP communications and protocols in order to diagnose faults in wireless IP networks and working knowledge of radio communications systems
  • Previous experience working with a variety of specialist software packages (i.e. UIQ, SAP, MS Suite, etc)
  • Experience working around various brands of electricity meters
  • Diploma or Degree in Information Systems, or equivalate.
  • Australian drivers licence
  • Construction Induction (white/blue) card
  • ESI worker card
  • Cable Provider licence with Fibre, Coax, Structured endorsements (highly desirable)
  • A Grade Electrician (highly desirable)
