About the role

We are seeking a skilled Overhead Estimator to support Zinfra’s continued success by developing accurate, competitive and commercially sound pricing submissions for medium to large proposals. Working from our Keysborough location with hybrid flexibility, you will consolidate costs, prepare first‑principles estimates, liaise with internal stakeholders, engage subcontractors, and contribute to strategic bidding outcomes. This is a full time position however we are able to consider the option to work part‑time (3–4 days per week) for the right candidate.

Your work will directly support major bids ranging from $5M to $100M, ensuring pricing accuracy, compliance and strong alignment with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Review RFP documentation, technical specifications and standards to determine estimating requirements
  • Prepare quantity take-offs, BoQs and first-principles estimates
  • Apply correct labour, plant, indirects, contingency and margin in line with Zinfra processes
  • Manage procurement processes including RFQs, vendor evaluation and subcontractor engagement
  • Liaise closely with Proposal Managers, Operational SMEs, Schedulers and Finance
  • Present estimates clearly to senior stakeholders for review and approval
  • Ensure compliance with estimating procedures, tools and document management standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned and benchmarking updates

About You

You are highly analytical with strong commercial acumen, a collaborative approach and a passion for accuracy. You thrive in environments where you can influence bid competitiveness and support business growth.

  • Trade / tertiary qualification within the electricity industry (essential)
  • Previous estimating experience in utilities (desirable)
  • Experience with first‑principles estimating, pricing methodologies and scheduling integration (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, utility specifications and procurement processes
  • Proficiency with estimating tools (e.g., Expert Estimation) and MS Project
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines
