About the role

We’re looking for a skilled and safety-focused Plumber / Pipelayer to join our Canberra-based team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for constructing and laying underground mains for a major utility across the ACT and surrounding regions, working with a variety of stakeholders to deliver critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Excavate, backfill, and remediate mains and service trenching for underground utility networks
  • Interpret and work from construction plans and field manuals
  • Working with excavators and alongside HydroVac units, power tools, and hand tools
  • Work with surveyors to ensure correct alignments
  • Communicate effectively with utility providers, builders, plumbers, and property owners
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements
  • Accurately complete timesheets and reporting using systems like Upvise
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Schedulers, Field Officers, and Construction Leaders

About You

You’re a reliable team player with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety. You bring practical experience and the right qualifications to hit the ground running.

  • Relevant construction tickets (White Card, Asbestos Awareness, Traffic Management)
  • Experience in pipe laying, civil excavation, trenching, and backfilling
  • Excavator and HydroVac experience (desirable)
  • Medium/Heavy Rigid licence (advantageous)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in field-based environments
