About the role

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will take a lead role in delivering complex projects, ensuring systems are commissioned to the highest standards. This position involves supervising activities, either independently or within a team, while applying your technical expertise and leadership skills. You will oversee planning, execution, and troubleshooting during commissioning phases, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety requirements. The role demands strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and a proactive approach to managing stakeholders and timelines, driving successful outcomes for critical engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities include

• Leading commissioning teams on complex projects, ensuring high standards and timely delivery.
• Supervising and mentoring commissioning personnel, while supporting trainee development programs.
• Participating in pre- and post-project workshops to drive estimation accuracy and project closeout success.
• Providing on-site training and guidance to less experienced testers and work groups as required.
• Preparing commissioning documentation, cut-over plans, and technical reports for complex projects.
• Executing FAT and SAT for protection and control systems, switchgear, and instrument transformers.
• Managing third-party equipment supplier testing and coordinating outage planning and execution.
• Performing advanced testing and commissioning of protection schemes, including fault investigations and design recommendations.
• Collaborating with technical experts and design engineers to resolve complex issues and deliver optimal solutions.

The ideal candidate profile will demonstrae

A proven ability to lead commissioning teams on complex HV substation projects, combining technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills. They will be resilient, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a focus on safety, problem-solving, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

• Extensive experience in HV substation commissioning.
• Time in project team leadership roles.
• Leading junior testers or protection technicians in field environments.
• Expertise in protection and control systems, outage planning, and execution.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment and power system theory.
