About Zinfra:

Zinfra is a leading partner in the design, build, operation and maintenance of Australia’s energy and utilities infrastructure. Delivering over $1B portfolio annually, the work we do is essential to bringing energy to our communities safely and reliably, while powering the nation’s energy transition. With a diverse workforce of more than 2,300, we expertly deliver our services across Australia.

About the role:

We’re seeking skilled Project Engineers to play a key role in supporting both the tendering and delivery phases of projects, contributing to technical management across the full project management framework. This role requires an understanding of endtoend project processes, the ability to complete assigned tasks, and the capability to help define and develop work scopes in alignment with broader project objectives. The Project Engineer will manage the delivery of discrete elements within large, complex projects, or take full responsibility for small, lowrisk projects from planning through to completion.

Success in this role relies on strong analytical and problemsolving abilities, effective planning experience, and proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite. A relevant engineering or trade qualification is essential, along with knowledge of project management processes within Zinfra. Core competencies include building customer loyalty, collaborating effectively with stakeholders, maintaining high work standards, making informed decisions, monitoring information accurately, and fostering continuous improvement throughout all project activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting health, safety and environmental management by adhering to plans, contributing to meetings, escalating issues, and inducting personnel into project safety systems.
  • Contributing to scope management by documenting scope, identifying discrepancies or gaps, reviewing designs, and providing technical support.
  • Managing contracts by compiling claims, preparing subcontract packages, overseeing subcontractor activities, and assessing downstream claims.
  • Assisting with time management by assessing progress impacts, contributing to schedule development, and supporting recovery planning and programme updates.
  • Maintaining quality management processes by keeping site quality records and contributing to QMP, ITPs, check sheets, MDRs and NCR registers.
  • Identifying and assessing project risks and opportunities, implementing controls, and escalating realised risks when required.
  • Supporting procurement management by preparing subcontract packages, attending vendor discussions, contributing to assessments, and submitting procurement approvals.
  • Contributing to cost management by completing daily records, maintaining progress tracking, updating MCR inputs, and preparing estimates to complete.
  • Assisting with project integration by preparing client reports, participating in meetings, maintaining records, and supporting development of project plans and matrices.

About you:

To be selected for interview, your résumé should demonstrate a strong grounding in engineering project delivery, supported by analytical thinking, effective planning, and sound decisionmaking. You should show capability in managing scope, time, cost, quality and risk across multiple project stages, while applying HSEQ processes and Zinfra’s project management framework. Evidence of collaboration with stakeholders, maintaining professional relationships, and contributing to continuous improvement is essential. Your experience should reflect proficiency with the MS Office suite, technical qualifications, and the ability to monitor information, uphold high work standards, and communicate clearly within a teamfocused environment.
