About the role: 

We’re seeking to engage a new Operational Analyst who will be tasked with developing the tools, mechanisms and provides the necessary reports and dashboards to manage the plan of Gas Services Portfolio of work. The role coordinates the monthly forecast for the Gas Services Portfolio of work, monitors the variance against the baseline and provides detailed variance analysis and identifies potential risk scenarios. Additionally, the role supports the development of annual works program to guarantee the reliability and functionality of existing and new assets within the gas network

 

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Planning and overseeing the development and approval of the annual works program for projects related to the construction and operation of gas distribution and transmission networks.
  • Designing tools and mechanisms for planning development activities for labour, materials, and contractors, utilizing parameters such as Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), activity, and region, ensuring alignment with Jemena's project management methodology, construction, and operational specifications and standards.
  • Conducting site visits to assess and identifying potential risks to budget control and safety, proposing and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impacts and ensure cost-effectiveness in site labour management and material delivery.
  • Analyzing scope of work to accurately estimate costs, preparing detailed cost plans and estimates in alignment with Zinfra engineering requirements and Australian standards/specifications (e.g., AS2885, AS4041, AS4645) to support budgetary control efforts.
  • Coordinating planning baselines, and changing management for the Portfolio of Work, quantifying the financial impact of project delivery strategy changes to ensure alignment with budget constraints and negotiating cost-effective adjustments for project feasibility.
  • Analyzing the impact of changing population demographics and forecasted gas demand on operational and maintenance requirements, considering the transition to renewable gases.
  • Evaluating volume and unit rate cost changes, incorporating factors such as infrastructure investment, operational efficiency, and the integration of renewable energy sources into the gas network..
  • Actively contributing to supporting the development and implementation of delivery strategies, with a primary focus on maintaining reliability and safety within the gas network and pipelines, ensuring optimal functionality of their assets throughout their service life. This involves developing and strengthening relationships with asset management, monitoring budgetary control and resource management aspects to ensure the successful execution of preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and urgent response programs. 


About you: 

To be selected for interview your resume needs to highlight a tertiary qualification in Engineering and or Project Management along side experience working in utilities or industrial engineering projects.

  • Experience managing and planning for routine construction and/or operational programs and projects which involve detailed stakeholder negotiations to ensure that projects occur on time and within budget.
  • Developing and managing systems and tools that provide clear visibility of demand and supply status
  • Experience of implementing and/or continually improving operational process and systems
