About the role

The role of Advanced Plant Operator is to provide support to civil construction crews including excavation, backfill, cable installations including UG fibre optic cables, recoveries and reinstatement works in accordance with job specifications, materials handling and transport and stockpile management.

You will be responsible for a variety of tasks and have the opportunity to work with colleagues across a range of disciplines. As a field based role the standard working hours are 6am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Dig trenches to specification and Lay & install pipe to plan
  • Shovelling materials to and from construction areas, including but not limited to asphalt and dirt
  • Load and unload construction materials &/supplies from trucks
  • Maintaining clean work environment being machinery &/work site
  • Operate variety of hand &/ power tools and spotting for underground services
  • Read plans and take direction from Crew Leader

About You

The successful applicant will have experience working in a similar role within the construction industry, while actively participating in identifying site hazards and implementing control measures.

  • Operating an Excavator with proven trenching techniques & ability to dig around services
  • Ability to implement environmental controls as required and read & understand DBYD plans
  • Valid HR Drivers Licence
  • Excavators and Skid Steer ticket
  • First Aid certificate – highly desirable
  • Dogging certificate – highly desirable
  • Confined Space – highly desirable
