About the role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Pipeline Operator / Technician to join our Gas Transmission Operations and Maintenance Team. If you have an Electrical Instrumentation background and are looking for a role that is diverse, hands‑on, and technically challenging, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of activities related to high-pressure natural gas pipelines and facilities, offering significant variety and the opportunity to work across a diverse and dynamic operational environment.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Electrical and instrumentation preventative maintenance, fault‑finding and repair of station instruments and gas monitoring equipment
  • Mechanical tasks such as valve overhauls and valve maintenance
  • Operational and critical function testing of water bath heaters and pressure reduction skids
  • Maintain gas turbines and associated equipment
  • Verification of metering equipment
  • Cathodic protection monitoring and testing
  • Pipeline easement patrols and right‑of‑way maintenance, including vegetation control and signage repairs
  • Pipeline excavation and coating repairs
  • Engaging and supervising contractors, and liaising with landowners, authorities and third parties
  • Maintaining accurate documentation, including records, procedures and work instructions
  • Responding to customer and stakeholder queries, incidents and emergencies
  • Participating in an on‑call roster and assisting with work across other Gas Transmission assets, which may include intra/interstate travel

About You

The successful candidate will be capable of working independently, proactively identifying improvements, and managing the varied responsibilities associated with operating High Pressure Natural Gas Pipelines. You will have strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently, you will also possess the following:

  • Electrical Fitter or Electrical Fitter / Mechanic trade qualifications
  • A current Electrical Licence
  • Instrumentation Trade or Certificate III in Industrial Instrumentation (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current First Aid / CPR / Low Voltage Rescue certification
  • Construction Industry OHS White Card
  • Current NSW Drivers licence

Desirable:

  • Experience with high pressure natural gas pipelines, compressors or processing equipment
  • RTU / PLC interpretation and fault‑finding skills
  • Gas Chromatograph operation and maintenance experience
  • EEHA qualifications
  • Experience with Type B appliances including boilers and Water Bath Heaters
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • HR or MR driver licence, and / or Forklift / EWP / Rigging high‑risk licence
