AWho We Are
Zinfra is a leading partner in the design, build, operation and maintenance of Australia’s energy and utilities infrastructure. Delivering an annual portfolio of more than $1 billion, our work helps keep energy flowing safely and reliably to communities across Australia while supporting the nation’s energy transition.
With a workforce of more than 2,300 people, we deliver complex infrastructure, asset management and field services across Australia. Our people draw on deep industry experience, an unwavering commitment to safety, and practical innovation to deliver the right outcomes for our clients and communities.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Central-West Orana project, one of Australia's most significant energy infrastructure programs. Operating within a fast-paced and complex project environment, you will be trusted to exercise sound judgement, provide commercial leadership and help protect project value throughout delivery.
Working closely with project teams, subcontractors and our client, Transgrid, you will lead the commercial management of a major lump-sum contract, ensuring obligations are met, risks are controlled and opportunities are realised. This role offers significant exposure to commercial decision-making on a nationally important infrastructure project while shaping commercial capability across the broader business.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the commercial strategy across a major infrastructure project, driving value, managing risk and supporting successful project outcomes.
- Manage contractual mechanisms including notices, variations, payment claims, change management and commercial correspondence.
- Negotiate and maintain effective commercial relationships with clients and subcontractors, resolving issues and securing positive outcomes.
- Partner with project leadership teams to strengthen commercial decision-making, governance, reporting and contractual compliance.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities early, developing practical mitigation strategies that support project and business performance.
About You
You are a commercially astute professional who combines strong technical contract knowledge with practical problem-solving and sound judgement. You thrive in complex delivery environments, remain calm under pressure and take ownership of outcomes. You'll bring a collaborative approach while being confident in challenging constructively when required to protect commercial interests and project performance.
To be successful, you'll demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business, Quantity Surveying, Finance or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in commercial, finance, legal or operational roles within the energy, utilities, construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven experience managing commercial activities across major project delivery programs, including contract administration, claims and variations.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, commercial governance frameworks, contract law and commercial risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence project teams, clients and subcontractors while maintaining strong commercial controls and contractual compliance.
