Ku‑ring‑gai Fitness & Aquatic Centre (KFAC) is a modern, high‑use community facility operated by YMCA NSW, supporting the health, fitness, and wellbeing of the local community. The centre offers a mix of aquatic, fitness, and wellbeing services, welcoming members, families, and casual visitors throughout the day.

As a customer service hub, the site is fast‑paced and people‑focused, with a strong emphasis on safety, accessibility, and positive member experiences. Front‑of‑house staff work closely with lifeguards, fitness teams, swim school staff, and centre leadership to ensure every visitor feels supported, informed, and welcome from the moment they arrive.

As a Casual Creche Assistant, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for children while their parents and caregivers enjoy our fitness and aquatic facilities. You'll work flexible hours on a casual basis, making this position ideal for students, parents, or anyone seeking work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage with children of various ages in a safe and supportive manner
  • Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts
  • Maintain a clean and organized creche environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and team members
  • Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Assist with snack time and basic care needs
  • Document any incidents or concerns appropriately
  • Support children with diverse needs and backgrounds

What We're Looking For

  • Genuine passion for working with children and families
  • Previous experience in childcare, education, or youth work (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in various situations
  • Flexibility to work casual hours including evenings and weekends
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
  • Physical ability to engage in active play and lift children when necessary
