Registered Midwife – Acute Services & Lactation Consultant

Yarrawonga Health is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse/Midwife to join our Acute Services team. We are also seeking applicants with Lactation Consultant expertise who are passionate about supporting breastfeeding mothers and infants through evidence-based education, assessment and clinical care.

Working within our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care to pregnant and postnatal women, newborns and acute patients, while contributing to a collaborative and supportive

About the Role

As a Registered Midwife, you will:

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing and midwifery care.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in partnership with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide education, support and advocacy for women and their families.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and ongoing professional development.
  • Support and mentor graduate nurses, students and enrolled nurses.

For the Lactation Consultant role, you will also:

  • Provide specialist breastfeeding assessment, education and clinical support to women and families.
  • Develop individualised breastfeeding management plans.
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health teams to optimise maternal and infant outcomes.
  • Promote best practice in lactation management across the organisation.

About You

You will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in acute nursing and/or midwifery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous improvement and person-centred care.

For the Lactation Consultant position, you will also require:

  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) accreditation (or equivalent recognised lactation consultant qualification).
  • Demonstrated experience providing specialist lactation and breastfeeding support within a maternity or postnatal setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary breastfeeding and infant feeding practices.
