We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaners to join our Environmental Services team. The ideal candidates will contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring the well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the overall cleanliness and infection control within Yarrawonga Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness through routine cleaning, disinfecting and sanitising of patient rooms, communal areas and other designated spaces.
- Safely collect, handle and dispose of waste, recyclables and biohazardous materials in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures, with a strong focus on high-touch and high-risk areas.
- Work collaboratively with the Environmental Services team and healthcare staff to support efficient service delivery and specific cleaning requirements.
- Follow workplace health and safety guidelines and promptly report hazards, risks or incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Must be able to work all shifts, weekly, afternoon and weekends including public holidays
- Computer skills at a basic level;
- Understanding of confidentiality;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills;
- Ability to work with a wide variety of people;
- Self-motivated with a high level of communication and organisational skills demonstrated ability to work alone.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
Skills and Abilities:
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
