Join the leadership team at Yarrawonga Health as an After-Hours Coordinator (AHC) and play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality care across our health service after hours. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with strong clinical leadership skills to step into a dynamic and rewarding role supporting acute, aged care and community services in a rural health setting.

This position will commence as a Fixed Term Part-Time role for 12 weeks to cover an extended leave period, with the opportunity to transition into an ongoing casual After-Hours Coordinator pool following completion of the fixed term contract.

About the Role

As an After-Hours Coordinator, you will be part of a highly valued senior nursing team responsible for the after-hours management and coordination of services across Yarrawonga Health. You will provide operational and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, person-centred care while supporting staff, patients, residents and visitors across the organisation.

This is a hands-on leadership role where no two shifts are the same. You will coordinate staffing and hospital resources, oversee patient flow and escalation processes, respond to emergencies, support clinical teams, and ensure compliance with clinical governance and Safe Patient Care Ratio requirements.

The AHC is also a key point of contact for organisational escalation, emergency management and after-hours operational decision making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong clinical and operational leadership across the organisation after hours
  • Coordinate staffing resources and support safe workforce management
  • Promote evidence-based practice and high standards of patient care
  • Support and mentor nursing staff across acute, aged care and community services
  • Respond to clinical incidents, emergencies and organisational escalations
  • Participate in quality improvement, risk management and clinical governance activities
  • Maintain effective communication across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, policies and procedures
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture focused on safety, collaboration and continuous improvement

About You

You are a confident and experienced Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can make sound decisions independently. You bring strong leadership capability, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

Essential Criteria

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 5 years’ advanced clinical nursing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and operational management capability
  • Experience in Residential Aged Care and/or acute clinical services
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Understanding of contemporary healthcare issues and clinical governance principles
  • Experience with resource management, staffing coordination and clinical escalation

Desirable

  • Postgraduate or tertiary qualifications in leadership or management (or working towards)
  • Membership with a relevant professional organisation
  • Knowledge of current trends and research in aged care and rural health services
