We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our Environmental Services team. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring the well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the overall cleanliness and infection control within Yarrawonga Health.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitising:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming, to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Disinfect and sanitize surfaces in patient rooms, common areas, and other designated areas.

Waste Management:

  • Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables according to hospital protocols.
  • Ensure proper handling of biohazardous materials.

Infection Control:

  • Follow established infection control procedures to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital.
  • Pay special attention to high-touch surfaces and areas prone to contamination.

Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the environmental services team to ensure a cohesive and efficient cleaning process.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and staff regarding specific cleaning requirements.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekly, afternoon and weekends including public holidays
  • Computer skills at a basic level;
  • Understanding of confidentiality;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills;
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people;
  • Self-motivated with a high level of communication and organisational skills demonstrated ability to work alone.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
