About the role:

The Clinical Co-Ordinator is responsible for the day to day operations of the Urgent Care Centre ensuring high quality services are provided to patient/residents within applicable financial framework, quality standards and legislative requirements.

Urgent Care provides emergency care for the Yarrawonga community. With approximately 5000 presentations per year and a widely varied patient population providing a dynamic workplace that is continuing to grow with our community.

The role provides support, vision, and leadership to successfully manage the Urgent Care Centre whilst working collaboratively with the Acute Nurse Unit Manager, Executive team to deliver their goals, the After-Hours Coordinators and their peer group

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining contemporary and patient focused clinical and practice standards; initiate reviews and evaluation of service delivery
  • Manage and monitor patient care services to ensure they are delivered in line with YH vision and values, policies and procedures, and other legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for monitoring patient documentation to ensure it meets legislative, legal and funding authority requirements and outcomes.
  • Responsible for leading and implementing a patient focused service ethos
  • Responsible for monitoring patient services and activities to maximise efficiency while providing safe and quality care that is tailored to each individual patient and their relatives
  • Effective communication with stakeholders in a sensitive and professional manner
  • Ability to be a role model in the undertaking of learning and professional development activities to ensure currency of knowledge and awareness of contemporary practice.
  • Responsible for the efficiency and effective operation of all clinical systems and equipment
  • Ensure a safe working environment for staff.
  • Patient, relative and staff satisfaction.
  • Accreditation status maintained.
  • Performance Indicators within acceptable measurements.
  • Compliance is demonstrated via documentation and clinical audits.
  • Undertake clinical supervision and act as a role model in the provision of care
  • Manages Quality, Risk and OH&S issues in accordance with appropriate YH policy
  •  Instigates and actively participates in Quality Improvement Activities

Key Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Emergency/Urgent Care setting
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral), problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Ability and willingness to provide direct care within scope of practice
  • Experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Demonstrated evidence of effectively leading staff through change
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet set timelines.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the Urgent Care setting.
  • Ability to lead and contribute to continuous quality improvement activities
  • Evidence of a focus and a passion for high quality care

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Emergency/Critical Care Nursing.
  • Innovative skills in program delivery, particularly in relation to clinical services in a rural environment.
  • Experience of financial management including budgetary control.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential.
