Our Mining Group
We have a global team of over 5,200 dedicated mining professionals are supporting the industry to decarbonise mining operations in the accelerating green transition. Working collaboratively across borders and disciplines, you’ll join a leading team working on interesting and complex projects. We are experts in our field, and we are passionate about mining. Our tailings engineers work on large-scale, world-class projects both in Australia and internationally. We are the tailings consultant of choice for several global mining companies, and our team works across the entire full lifecycle of tailings projects, from feasibility and site investigation through to design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and closure.
What you’ll do:
As the Lead Tailings Engineer, you’ll be responsible for leading technical services, deliverables and client engagement across a diverse portfolio of mining projects. You’ll bring deep expertise in tailings storage facility (TSF) design and governance, while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, sustainable resource development. Your day to day;
- Lead the design, analysis, and review of TSFs, dams, and associated mine waste infrastructure.
- Developing and maintaining effective client relationships and generating consulting business
- Support business development through proposals, strategy, and client relationships.
- Participate in Independent Technical Review Boards.
- Lead complex risk assessments including Quantitative Risk Assessments.
- Mentor and develop engineers at various career stages, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
About You
You’re a highly skilled geotechnical or mine waste professional with a strong background in tailings design, governance, and project delivery. You thrive on solving complex technical challenges, building strong client relationships, and leading diverse project teams.
- Bachelor Qualification in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining Engineering or similar.
- Proven working experience on tailings/mine waste related projects locally or internationally, ideally in a consulting environment.
- 10+ years of experience working in Civil and Tailings Engineer.
- Peer recognition locally and/or internationally as an expert in tailings related services.
- In-depth understanding of local and international guidelines, best practice protocols and client based standards.
- Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment, including on multi-disciplinary projects.
